We want to introduce you to our colleagues and team members, because at Cinevation organisation is all about people.
First up is our CEO, Mr. Bjørn Sæterøy
Please describe yourself in two sentences
I am pragmatic, tolerant and I like to play. I am systematic, dedicated and I hate to lose.
What does success mean to you?
Success means having set a target and reaching it.
Please tell us three things you believe in
1 – Getting up early in the morning
2 – Finishing what has been started
3 – Exercise
How do you cope with stress at work?
I maintain external lists of “stuff” that have to get done and try to make sure that I know (1) what the successful outcome is, and (2) what the next immediate step is. Using my bicycle to/from work is also a great way to start/end the work day.
Which book would you recommend to read?
Getting Things Done by David Allen
Who do you challenge to be the next participant in “Meet the C-team”?
Bjørn Stenslie and Rune Bjerkestrand

Cinevation recently announced our new “LED Brick” light source, and an associated upgrade kit for existing Cinevator customers.
The upgrade kit, which includes newly designed LED Bricks and associated controller boards, will optimise Cinevator operation and further enhance image quality and density on film.
Installation of this new light source will provide our current users with:
• Increased image density and dynamic range
• Improved uniformity of illumination
• Improved self-calibrating functionality
• Reduced system maintenance
We’ve had great success with our first customer installations and we look forward to seeing the unit in use across all installed Cinevators in the near future.

Filmlab, a film laboratory located in Mumbai, took delivery of a fully specified CinevatorFive in March of this year. Filmlab is experiencing great success in the Indian market and are truly creating waves in Bollywood.
Filmlab has now launched an initiative they call “Cinevator Seminars”. The Cinevator Seminars are free of charge and arranged to educate and motivate the Indian film industry. Run once a week on a Saturday evening, Filmlab invites anyone related to the film and advertising industry to be a part of the seminars and to discuss the opportunities that the Cinevator brings.
The seminars are focused on producing “budget-friendly” feature films, documentaries, short films and commercials. The attendees will see demonstrations of how ultra-high quality cinema release print can quickly and easily be produced from 35mm or 16mm negative scans, or directly from digitally originated content from cameras such as the Red One.
To join, please check out: http://www.ecademy.com/module.php?mod=meeting&mid=29814
We are proud to see our customers taking advantage of the versatility and uniqueness of the Cinevator, and we wish Filmlab all the best in their future activities!

We have previously announced that Cinevation would have the global management team present at NAB. We have now reconsidered our presence at the show. Cinevation has recently won support from the European Union for a new development project that now requires significant resources. Additionally, many of our customers and potential customer have announced to us that they will not be at NAB this year and consequently we re-allocated our resources. We will be represented at NAB by our North American executive, Evan Edelist who will be present during the whole NAB in Las Vegas. His contact details are as follows:
Evan Edelist
Cinevation North America
Email: evan.edelist@cinevation.net / edelvision@hotmail.com
Phone: +1 818 339 8582
Cinevation is currently in the process of finalizing exciting customer installations in new markets as well as in the final stages of many contract negotiations. We regret that we are not able to allocate more resources to NAB this year.

Egypt is a lot more than pyramids, bustling markets and excellent diving. Over the last decade, the Egyptian movie industry has seen a sharp increase in both movies produced and box office revenues. According to Wikipedia, in 1997, the number of Egyptian feature-length films created was 16; 10 years later, that number had risen to 40. Box office records have also risen significantly, as Egyptian movies earned around $50 million while American movies, by comparison, earned $10 million. The quality of movies has also improved both in terms of direction and plot.
This obviously makes the Egypt, dubbed “Hollywood of the East”, an extremely interesting market for Cinevation, and we’re happy to say that Aroma Designs & Solutions (http://graphicaroma.com/), located in Giza, Egypt, is the first company in the Middle East to have purchased a Cinevator real time film recorder and printer.
The Aroma full-featured Cinevator five has been up and running since January 2009. Aroma is one of the region’s leading film and video production and post-production facilities, and aim to provide creativity and originality at the onset of every project and to continually invest in new technologies and creative talent.
The unique features of the Cinevator five paired with the unmatched skills and technology available at Aroma will streamline Digital Intermediate and HD-to-film processes in ways which have never been possible before.
We’re looking forward to being a part of the bustling Egyptian film industry.

In less than one month, the NAB Show kicks off in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is obviously one of the most important conferences in 2009 for our industry, and Cinevation will have a broad presence at the conference.
For this year’s NAB, we have decided to dedicate more quality time to presenting the Cinevator and our other products to our customers and partners. So instead of having a presence on the noisy and distracting show floor, we are inviting all our blog readers to our «Cinevation VIP suite» at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel.
In our VIP suite you will have the opportunity to learn more about our technology, products and work flow solutions in a calm and discreet ambiance.
Our top representatives from Product/Application Management, Sales and Marketing will be available for talks and meetings during the whole show period, April 20 – 23, from 9am to 6pm (2pm on April 23).
The «Cinevation VIP Suite» is located in the North Tower of the Las Vegas Hilton ( www.lvhilton.com ). The Las Vegas Hilton is directly adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center, only a few minutes’ walk from the NAB show floor. Just follow the direction signs from the Las Vegas Hilton lobby. Also, the Concierge at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel can direct you to our suite.
We’ll be grateful if you can leave a short comment below if you plan to stop by and see us, or send an email to anniken.dahl@cinevation.net if you have any questions. If you’d like to meet up with us at any of the other events surrounding the NAB Show, feel free to drop us a note as well. We’re looking forward to meeting as many as possible

In December last year, Cinelab Ltd. in Moscow installed its Cinevator one film recorder, which is the second machine we’ve delivered to Russia. Salamandra Film Lab bought a Cinevator in 2007. While it’s obviously exciting to deliver any new machine, it is positive that Cinelab decided on the Cinevator after an extensive assessment of all productivity and image quality aspects of our recorder, compared to their already owned Arrilaser. This shows that our machine can compete with any film recorder out there, and we’re obviously very proud.
The Cinevator will enable Cinelab to provide faster turnaround times paired with tremendous recording capacity and reference image quality.
“We are very excited and proud about our latest addition to our state-of-the-art machinery. The Cinevator will enable unprecedented customer experience and new business opportunities,” says Denis Glinsky,CEO at Cinelab.
The Russian movie industry is an incredibly interesting market, and we’re excited to be one of the companies that will be shaping the industry.
